I am a Chicago-based artist, educator, and arts administrator. Since 2013, I have been Director of Art and Technology for Artists' Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions (ACRE). Before I was an artist, I worked as a software engineer and data analyst. I was a student of mathematics at Columbia University.
My work uses algorithms, electronics and digital media. I often make conspicuously practical devices that nonetheless have a surprising or humorous character, or wildly impractical schemes that point to a serious truth. Themes explored in my work include emergence, recursion, the hacker sensibility of "ha ha, only serious" (HHOS), and idealized models.
